  Matthias and Paul “You know, Matthias was never meant to be the 12th Apostle… “It was meant to be Paul… “Who was Matthias anyway..? “he doesn’t appear to do anything… “his name’s only mentioned once in the Bible - after that he disappears…”  These shocking statements - and others like them, were made by a celebrity TV ‘preacher’ amid the usual “Ooos” and “Wows” from his staged audience, at this amazing “new revelation”.  I have been brought almost to tears by this blatant butchering of God’s Word over the airwaves: The audacity to say this about a disciple and Apostle of Jesus - and  a martyr! So who exactly was Matthias? And should Paul have been chosen instead of him?  We know he wasn’t one of the original twelve - and yes his name is hardly mentioned… And yet, we also know that he was with Jesus from the beginning (Acts1:21-22): humbly serving, quietly following, faithfully believing. Exodus 34:1-7 The Lord said to Moses, “Cut for yourself two tablets of stone like the first, and I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. (See Isaiah 24:5) Be ready by the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself there to me on the top of the mountain.  No one shall come up with you, and let no one be seen throughout all the mountain.
