Faith comes by hearing…

Acts14:8 Now at Lystra there was a man sitting who could not use his feet. He was crippled from birth and had never walked.

9 He listened to Paul speaking. And Paul, looking intently at him and seeing that he had faith to be made well, 10 said in a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet.” And he sprang up and began walking.

Romans 10: 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

As “he listened to Paul teaching the Word of God”…the result was FAITH - in the Name and person of Jesus Christ…

which resulted in healing.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,

The Same God who gave Paul the Faith to preach the Word, also gave this man the Faith to receive it: All the Glory comes from Him…and all goes back to Him. 

Ephesians 2:9-10 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

So here is a beautiful picture of how the Word of God and the Spirit of God work together in unity…and this is also how we can ensure that the spirit we are operating under is in fact the Holy Spirit: He will always honor and accompany the teaching of His Word…this is a president we see over and over in the New Testament as well as the Old.
