Psalm 139
#biblestudy Part 1 of 3
Psalm 139 (of David)
O Lord, you have searched me and known me!
(“You know how far fallen into sin we are, Lord”)
2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar.
3 You search out my path and my lying down
and are acquainted with all my ways.
4 Even before a word is on my tongue
behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
Wait up…! He sees my thoughts from afar?
See:
Genesis 6:5;
Psalm 51:5;
Matthew 5:21-22;
Romans 3:10-12
***This is why David is looking to God for Salvation ✝️
We cannot hide our fallen state from You Lord…
And yet…
5 You hem me in, behind and before,
and lay your hand upon me.
***Read Psalm 23…Behold, the Goodness & Mercy of the Lord***
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high; I cannot attain it.
***Because it is distant…it is the Cross***
(Hebrews 11:13-16)
7 Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
Genesis 3:7-10
(Jeremiah 23:23-24)
8 If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
Psalm 16:8-10
Acts2:22-36
Revelation 1:18
***This is Salvation - This is Jesus***
9 If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me.
(See Jonah ch. 1 &2…such an accurate example of how we typically reason with ourselves…that we can actually hide from God!)
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,
and the light about me be night,”
(Genesis ch.1: He created ALL…and He sees ALL)
12 even the darkness is not dark to you;
the night is bright as the day,
for darkness is as light with you.
Zechariah 14:6-7
Revelation 6:12-17
Because the Only True Light is The Lord (1John 1:5)
