Psalm 139

 #biblestudy Part 2 of 3

Psalm 139:13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb.

14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Genesis 1:26-27;

Psalm 100:3

Wonderful are your works;

    my soul knows it very well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you,

when I was being made in secret,

    intricately woven in the depths of the earth. (Another term used for a mother’s womb)

16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance;

in your book were written, every one of them,

    the days that were formed for me,

    when as yet there was none of them.

***David, in his true prophetic style, is seeing himself - and humanity - not as the helpless sinner he describes in his 51st Psalm (vs5), but through the eyes of Redemption…born again through the Spirit of God - A New Creation in Christ Jesus***

1Peter 1:23

2Corinthians 5:17

17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!

    How vast is the sum of them!

18 If I would count them, they are more than the sand.

***Compare this to Genesis 22:17.

Both Abraham’s descendants and God’s thoughts are likened to grains of sand…

So who are these grains of sand?…

And who are these precious thoughts of God?…

We are!

 As if every thought of God has become a living and redeemed soul.***

(Psalm 147:4)

David continues…

    “I awake, and I am STILL with you.”

***In other words “I am here Lord…You have shown ME your plan. What would you have ME do?”

David (the descendant of Abraham and ancestor of Jesus Christ), now sees himself as a part of this plan of redemption…
