Behold the sovereign mercy of the Lord
Day 12
Psalm 118
1 Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!
2 Let Israel say, “His steadfast love endures forever.”
3 Let the house of Aaron say, “His steadfast love endures forever.”
4 Let those who fear the Lord say, “His steadfast love endures forever.”
Such will be the testimony of the nation of Israel, when in Revelation 19, at the end of the final “week” (7 years) of Daniel 9:24, Yeshua hamashiach (Jesus Christ) rides out from Heaven to once and for all, liberate the Earth and be received by His chosen people…
vs.5 Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.
Here is where Israel will finally see and understand…
vs.6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?
7 The Lord is on my side as my helper; I shall look in triumph on those who hate me.
8 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.
9 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.
Here is the testimony of Israel:
vs.10 All nations surrounded me; in the name of the Lord I cut them off!
11 They surrounded me, surrounded me on every side; in the name of the Lord I cut them off!
12 They surrounded me like bees; they went out like a fire among thorns; in the name of the Lord I cut them off!
13 I was pushed hard, so that I was falling, but the Lord helped me.
14 The Lord is my strength and my song;
“he has become my Salvation”. {The name Yeshua (in Hebrew) or Jesus (in Greek) meaning exactly that!}
vs.15 Glad songs of Salvation are in the tents of the righteous: “The right hand of the Lord does valiantly,
16 the right hand of the Lord exalts, the right hand of the Lord does valiantly!”
17 I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the Lord.
18 The Lord has disciplined me severely, but he has not given me over to death. {See Matthew 24:15-22}
Picture if you will, the millennial reign of Christ: Yeshua hamashiach high and lifted up, in the City founded by the Lord - Jerusalem; {see Psalm 87}…
the veil finally lifted from the Jewish people {see Romans 11:25-27}…
shouts of joy and victory…
and at the same time weeping and lamenting as they look upon the One they have pierced. {see Zechariah 12:10}
Picture the Gentiles…redeemed from every tribe and tongue {Revelation 7:9-17}…rejoicing together with the Jew…becoming one new man {Ephesians 2:14-16}…
Can you hear the crescendo of worship and adoration…of triumph and victory…of comfort and consolation? This is our Hope…
vs.19 Open to me the gates of righteousness, that I may enter through them and give thanks to the Lord.
20 This is the gate of the Lord; the righteous shall enter through it. {see also Matthew 7:13-14 & John 10:9}
vs.21 I thank you that you have answered me and have become my “Yeshua” (Salvation). {Because the veil has now been fully lifted}
vs.22 The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
{See Matthew 21:42. They are likely weeping and lamenting as they recognize this…
But: “his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning. Psalm 39:5}
vs.23 This is the Lord's doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.
24 This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Before proceeding to vs. 25-26 we must first look at Matthew ch.23: Jesus, after pronouncing a set time of judgement upon that present generation of Israel, will make the following statement:
“For I tell you, you will not see me again, until you say, ‘Baruch Haba b’Shem Adonai’ - ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’” (vs.39)
This statement was not only for that generation, but for Israel as a whole; and when the Lord finally does return to the Holy City, at the end of the Great Tribulation and the time of great testing (Jeremiah 30:7), we will once again hear some very familiar words…and see their fulfillment:
vs.25 Save us, we pray, O Lord! (Hosanna!) O Lord, we pray, give us success!
26 Baruch Haba b’Shem Adonai
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! {See Matthew 21:7-9} We bless you from the house of the Lord.
vs.27 The Lord is God, and he has made his light to shine upon us. Bind the festal sacrifice with cords, up to the horns of the altar!
{They now understand that this light…this festal sacrifice…this Passover Lamb is Yeshua! And, that in cold blood, their ancestors - their people - crucified him. There will be weeping - But: see Genesis 50:20-21}
vs.28 You (Yeshua) are my God, and I will give thanks to you; you are my God; I will extol you.
29 Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!
Israel is the only actual nation to whom the Lord has promised deliverance: It is written…he has sworn this to no other nation. Israel’s time will come; but not before there has been a time of great deception…and of great tribulation.
Remember Jesus’s words of Matthew 24:6-8 “And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.
For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.”
Concerning Israel as a nation: Satan will attack the fruit, that surrounds the core and the seed - but the Lord will not allow him to overcome and destroy the seed (Revelation 12:1-6)
So of course we must never cease to pray, for Salvation to come to the people in Israel {for Paul writes that their blindness is only in part - so many are even now being saved}; and we should support them in any way we can, as led by the Lord. But at the same time we should be careful not to let what is happening now, distract us to the point that we forget about our home soil…our families…our fellowships…our unsaved communities…and (for those who are called) our nation. For the time of the gentiles is still upon us.
Remember that when we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, we’re not talking about peace with other nations; a dangerous worldly comfort that will usher in the anti-Christ. We’re talking about the only true Peace and the only Peace that matters: Peace with God, through their receiving the One who is “Sar Shalom” - the Prince of Peace: “Yeshua - The Lord is Salvation”.
