The Mystery of Ishmael

Reading Genesis 21:8-14 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis%2021%3A8-14&version=ESV Circulating around the Lord’s overarching and sovereign plan of Salvation, are the pitfalls and mistakes made by the wavering of Abraham and Sarah. Yet the Lord shows by his mercy towards Hagar and Ishmael, that he is sovereign even over these.  In the midst of God’s sovereign plan, we will continually mess up: But rest assured, we will not mess up the Great and Sovereign plan of God. We know this, because he continually works out his plans through us and in the midst of us! Because he knows us and it is his delight to use us!  Psalm 103:14  For he knows our frame;     he remembers that we are dust. He has already finished the work of Salvation for us, and until that time when we reach the end, to see him face to face and be instantly transformed, his grace is absolutely sufficient for us; his strength is made perfect in all our abundance of weakness! 1...

The Promise by Faith

Genesis 12:  1 Now the LORD said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. 2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.  3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”  Scripture tells us that these three well-known and well- quoted verses are pointing - not to Abraham’s present time - but ahead of time; to the Salvation that will come through Abraham’s descendant Jesus Christ, through Abraham’s simple faith and obedience to the Lord: first to the Jew; then to everyone!  This is the first of many promises like this, that the Lord will give to Abraham, over the course of his sojourning. vs.2 “I will make of you a great nation.”What is this “great nation”?  1Peter 2: 9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people ...

“Israel”

On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples. All who lift it will surely hurt themselves. And all the nations of the earth will gather against it.  On that day, declares the LORD, I will strike every horse with panic, and its rider with madness. But for the sake of the house of Judah I will keep my eyes open, when I strike every horse of the peoples with blindness. Zechariah 12:3-4 Scripture such as we read in Zechariah Ch.12 make clear to us New Covenant believers, what is Israel’s standing in the Lord, and how he - and he alone - will ultimately protect them. What we are seeing is likely only the beginning of this.  If he is able to preserve them through such great shaking as never known before, then he is surely able to preserve them through this, the beginning of birth pangs. We must not forget that we are New Testament believers; followers of Yeshua - who we recognize as the Messiah.  We must not compromise this belief for anything or anyone -...
