“Israel”
On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples. All who lift it will surely hurt themselves. And all the nations of the earth will gather against it.
On that day, declares the LORD, I will strike every horse with panic, and its rider with madness. But for the sake of the house of Judah I will keep my eyes open, when I strike every horse of the peoples with blindness. Zechariah 12:3-4Scripture such as we read in Zechariah Ch.12 make clear to us New Covenant believers, what is Israel’s standing in the Lord, and how he - and he alone - will ultimately protect them. What we are seeing is likely only the beginning of this.
If he is able to preserve them through such great shaking as never known before, then he is surely able to preserve them through this, the beginning of birth pangs.
We must not forget that we are New Testament believers; followers of Yeshua - who we recognize as the Messiah.
We must not compromise this belief for anything or anyone - whether they be Jew or Gentile.
So, in light of the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, and America’s entrenchment in it, I would recommend that every believer read the Book of Romans, Ch.9, 10 & 11:- Paul the Apostle’s teachings on Israel’s position with the Lord, and his instructions to us, the believers, on how we are to view and to treat them.
Let us nor forget, that the name “Israel” means “who strives with God”, and (with the exception of a chosen remnant) they will continue to strive with him, until in his good time, he removes the veil from their eyes, according to Romans 11, and they will finally see him as he is:-
Psalm 118:
10 All nations surrounded me;
in the name of the Lord I cut them off!
11 They surrounded me, surrounded me on every side;
in the name of the Lord I cut them off!
12 They surrounded me like bees;
they went out like a fire among thorns;
in the name of the Lord I cut them off!
13 I was pushed hard, so that I was falling,
but the Lord helped me.
Note: When this time comes, Israel will no longer be able to rely on their own strength - nor on nations like the USA - to help them; but rather…
14 The Lord is my strength and my song;
he has become my salvation.
15 Glad songs of salvation
are in the tents of the righteous:
“The right hand of the Lord does valiantly,
16 the right hand of the Lord exalts,
the right hand of the Lord does valiantly!”
17 I shall not die, but I shall live,
and recount the deeds of the Lord.
18 The Lord has disciplined me severely,
but he has not given me over to death.
Revelation 19:11-21, Zechariah 14 and Isaiah 63:1-6, give us a vivid picture of what the return of Messiah to Jerusalem will look like;
And, with regards to the people of Israel themselves, Psalm 118 continues to paint this picture:-
19 Open to me the gates of righteousness,
that I may enter through them
and give thanks to the Lord.
20 This is the gate of the Lord; (John 10:7-10)
the righteous shall enter through it.
21 I thank you that you have answered me
and have become my salvation.
22 The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone.
23 This is the Lord's doing;
it is marvelous in our eyes.(Matthew 21:42)
24 This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
25 Save us, we pray, O Lord!
O Lord, we pray, give us success!
26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! (Matthew 21:9-10)
We bless you from the house of the Lord.
27 The Lord is God,
and he has made his light to shine upon us.
Bind the festal sacrifice with cords,
up to the horns of the altar! (Zechariah 12:10-14)
28 You are my God, and I will give thanks to you;
you are my God; I will extol you.
29 Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever!
This is why Jesus says in Matthew 23:38-39
See, your house is left to you desolate.
For I tell you, you will not see me again, until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’”
That time will surely come!
