The Bridegroom and His Friend Jesus : And Jesus said to them, “ Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast .” Mark 2:19 John the Baptist: “He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled .” John 3:29 Here, we see Jesus and John the Baptist testifying about each other. Whether Jesus’s statement came first or John’s, both statements were given to John disciples, as a confirmation to them, that Jesus truly is the One John spoke of - and that John truly was His prophet.
